South Australia
Solar Sharer OfferAll retailers with 1,000+ residential customers

- Free 12pm–3pm
Up to 24 kWh a day free. Above 24 kWh a day in the window, the retailer can charge up to 19.7c/kWh.
Needs: A smart meter. Opt in with your retailer. Not available in embedded networks (e.g. many apartment blocks, caravan parks and retirement villages) or on a prepayment meter.
- Started 1 Jul 2026. Always 12pm–3pm on the Adelaide clock, including during daylight saving (ACDT). Prices are maximums, set until 30 Jun 2027.
- Other hours cost more: 58.8c/kWh 6am–10am and 4pm–midnight, 35.2c midnight–6am, 19.7c 10am–12pm and 3pm–4pm.
- Daily supply charge: 180c.
- Some retailers also sell market plans with the same free hours (for example Diamond Energy). Check their fact sheets.

Needs: A smart meter.
- New version from 1 Oct 2026 (from the AER's plan data; AGL's own site blocks automated checks).
- There are "No Exit Fee" and "New to AGL" versions; the New to AGL one has a sign-up incentive for customers who stay 90 days.
- Until 30 Sep 2026 this plan was free 10am–1pm with no cap.

Needs: A smart meter and no controlled-load tariff.
- In SA too, CovaU lists 11am–2pm, not the Solar Sharer's 12pm–3pm. Its plan data gives the time in Queensland time (AEST); if so, it's 10:30am–1:30pm in Adelaide (11:30am–2:30pm during daylight saving). Check with CovaU.

Needs: Solar on a net meter, not on a government feed-in scheme, and a home battery.
- Pays 11c/kWh for up to 10 kWh a day exported 6pm–9pm, and 2–3c at other times.
- Also listed as Origin Battery Earner (NSW and SE QLD) with the same free hours.
- Origin describes it as a battery plan; the plan data itself only asks for net-metered solar. Check with Origin.
